A “Five Heart” Review for Revving Her Up!

The ever-fabulous Jillian of the review site Read-Love-Blog has given “Revving Her Up” a coveted five-heart review! My first review – of my very first novella! Here’s the opening of her review:

This is the debut novella from author Joy Daniels and let me tell you…..I finished this story last night, in one sitting, and am STILL daydreaming about Cole almost 24 hours later! Whoa, this is one hell of a read!

When a pothole sends her Porsche to the side of the road, she finds herself stuck in small-town Rapture. She’d love nothing more than to blow this Hicksville and be on her way…until she meets sexy stockcar mechanic Cole Cassidy.

Coles knows exactly how to handle that fancy car, and its uptight driver. Sarah’s not his type, but neither can deny that their attraction is firing on all cylinders. Soon he’s introducing her to the thrill of speed at the local track—in his car, and on it.

But Sarah’s troubles aren’t so easily left in the dust – unless she forces herself to decide if she’s willing and able to let someone else take the wheel.

The middle of freaking nowhere. Sarah had assumed it was solely a figurative expression. But deep in the hills of Virginia, three hundred miles from New York City and another hundred plus miles from The Spa at Westwood, she’d found it. No reception on her cell phone. No one at the local garage who worked on Porsches. Not even a working soda machine.

According to the sign at the end of the street, the middle of nowhere was officially called Rapture, VA. Sarah snorted. Some name. The only pleasure she’d get from this town was watching it disappear from her rearview mirror.

Cover Preview for Revving Her Up

Here’s the final cover artwork for my debut novella, Revving Her Up, which will be released by Samhain Publishing on January 15, 2013.

They got the vibe of the story perfectly! And yes, there is a scene like this ;-) .

Sneak Preview

My current Work-in-Progress is a MMF menage novel called Nashville Threesome. I previewed a bit of that story for Six Sentence Sunday a couple of weeks ago. You can expect more – six more sentences to be precise – this coming Sunday and every week after through September.

Sarah watched the play of muscles across Cole’s back as he grabbed the wrench with both hands and pulled. His biceps strained with the effort and her breath caught in her throat. Her fingers twitched, eager to feel the strength in those limbs. To touch those rock-hard planes. To discover if he really was the cure she’d been looking for…

Standing behind her with one hand on her shoulder, he pointed to the left side of the axle. “There. See that narrow metal rod just inside the wheel?”

He paused waiting for an answer but Sarah’s mind had gone blank the moment he touched her. His hand on her shoulder was like a brand sending a heated awareness across her chest and down her torso. Her nipples pebbled. Several inches stood between them but she could feel his body behind her as surely as if they had embraced. It took all of her willpower not to lean back and close the gap.

Cole adjusted the front of his jeans and Sarah couldn’t help but smile. At least she wasn’t the only one affected by their near-kiss. “This shouldn’t take long,” he said, waving an arm towards the living room as headed down the hall. “Make yourself at home.”

She watched his rearview until he disappeared through a door at the end of the hall then finished her wine in a single gulp.

What the hell had just happened?

Hello friends!  Welcome to another Six Sentence Sunday.  I apologize for missing last week – I was on a blissful holiday in London with my family. (No, I don’t have any family there – all four of us were imported for the occasion :-) ) The castles and culture were terribly inspiring, as were the bookstores, so don’t be surprised if there’s a a British-themed short in my future!

Now onto the next installment of “Revving Her up”, my contemporary erotic romance about an uptight New york lawyer who finds a surprising cure for what ails her when her car breaks down in a small Virginia town.

She felt Cole’s gaze on her. He stepped forward, so close that Sarah had to tilt her head to look at his face.

Was he going to kiss her? He bent his head down. A frisson of pleasure shimmered through her body and her knees almost buckled. She closed her eyes –

And nearly jumped out of her skin when a horn blasted outside.
