My latest Work-in_Progress (WIP) is a New Adult novel about a college student runner, and the bodyguard hired to protect her from herself. He’s an old crush of hers, and she’s the boss’s daughter all grown-up, so there’s all kinds of potential goodness – and badness – in there!
The story takes place in Boston, a city I lived in for six years. The city holds both good memories for me, as well as a few de,ons – the mix fuels my writing.
Here a few songs that inspire me while I write – in my mind the lyrics reflect the storyline in some way.
Safe and Sound – Capital Cities “Even if the sky is burning down, I know that we’ll be safe and sound”.
Counting Stars – OneRepublic: “I feel something so wrong at doing the right thing. I feel something so right at doing the wrong thing.” (You figure it out. ;-) )
Demons – Imagine Dragons. (My heroine. ’nuff said.)
Wake Me Up – Avicii. “Life’s a game made for everyone. And love is the prize.” (Self-explanatory, no?)
1, 2, 3, 4 – Plain White T’s “Give me more lovin’ from the very start. Piece me back together when I fall apart.” (Oh yeah.)
She Will Be Loved – Maroon 5 “Look for the girl with the broken smile, Ask her if she wants to stay awhile. And she will be loved.”
Running Scared will be ready for beta reading sometime in January or February. If you’re interested in being a reader, drop me a note at authorjoydaniels at gmail dot com.
